Maria’s family intervened at a time when she needed it; she knows her family came from a place of worry. Maria took the steps to recovery, but she relapsed three times, that was the last warning she received before Plaza would have to drop her as a client.
She knew she had to stay clean to save her job, her home, and the connections she made with her counselors. Now, Maria shares her story to change the narrative of addiction in the Latin community. Maria hopes to inspire someone who is battling addiction; she said, “Believe in yourself.”
