Jackie Gutierrez, SOJC Alum 2021, owner and creator of Women Kick Balls, presented to 50 attendees at the EMU Ballroom at the University of Oregon campus on Tuesday, January 21. Students and community members were welcome to sit in for the presentation.
Jackie shares her adversity as a Latina woman in sports media. Jackie created Women Kick Balls in 2020 to combat biased reporting in women’s media. Jackie shares her adversity as a Latina woman in sports media. After graduating from Vanguard University in 2020, Jackie set out to attend grad school, as the pandemic progressed, Jackie attended online Zoom sessions through the University of Oregon School of Journalism.
Jackie has since gone on to cover the footage of the Women’s FIFA World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
